Guillermo Cobo was born in Jaén in 1991 and began his musical education at the age of 10. In 2006 he entered the “Ramón Garay” Professional Conservatory of Music in Jaén to study piano with Juan Domingo Tejero. Later he began his teacher training in the specialty of musical education at the University of Jaén (2009), obtaining a scholarship in 2011. international mobility to Kean University (NJ, USA), where he receives composition lessons from Joseph Turrin.

In 2013 he entered the Aragón Superior Conservatory of Music, where he trained as a composer under the tutelage of Jose María Sánchez-Verdú (2013) and Juan José Eslava (2015), graduating in 2017.

 

That same year he was admitted to Germany at the Hochschule für Musik und Theather “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig to pursue his master's studies with Fabien Lévy. In 2018 he obtained an Erasmus+ scholarship with which he moved to Italy to continue his training at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory of Music in Milan with Gabriele Manca.

 

He is currently carrying out his doctoral thesis on the music of Paco Guerrero under the direction of Pedro Ordóñez Eslava at the University of Granada, an activity that he combines with teaching at the “Oreste Camarca” Professional Conservatory of Music in Soria.

Bio

Born in Jaén in 1991, he studied composition at the conservatories of Zaragoza, Leipzig and Milan. Among his professors are names such as Juanjo Eslava, Gabriele Manca, Fabien Lévy and José María Sánchez Verdú.

 

His music is inspired by the internal geometry of natural shapes and phenomena. This interest in formalized music has led him to collaborate since 2022 with the composer Carlos Satué.

 

He is currently professor of composition at the Conservatory of Music of Aragon (CSMA), activity that he combines with his PhD about the music of Francisco Guerrero Marín under the direction of Pedro Ordoñez Eslava at the University of Granada.

 

His works have been performed in several European countries (Spain, Germany, Italy and Switzerland), as well as Japan, and have been recognized with international awards. Since 2023 he has become member of the Colectivo E7.2.
